Prokletije (Accursed Mountains) and Komovi

In this tour we will take you to some of most beautiful mountains in Montenegro – Prokletije (Accursed mountains) and Komovi.

Prokletije, also known as the Accursed Mountains, is a mesmerizing mountain range located on the border of Montenegro, Albania, and Kosovo. Its name, meaning “cursed” in Serbian, speaks to its rugged and formidable terrain. Prokletije is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, deep gorges, glacial lakes, and diverse flora and fauna, making it a paradise for hikers, climbers, and nature lovers.

Komovi are stunning mountain range, also part of Dinaric Alps. The Komovi peaks are known for their striking beauty, attracting hikers and nature enthusiasts. The range consists of three main peaks: Ljevorecki Kom, Vasojevicki Kom and Kucki Kom.

Our meeting location is Podgorica, capital of Montenegro where is located main airport in our country. We can pick you at your hotel wherever at territory of Podgorica. Depend of situation at border, we have about 1,5 h of beautiful drive through Albania to our destination – Gusinje. We prefer to stay at Grebaje valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in whole Balkan area, surrounded with 2500 m peaks. Please have in mind that in main season, accommodation spaces in valley can be very limited, so if we don’t have place, we will find best possible alternative.

After breakfast we start our hike which is by the way one of the most beautiful hikes in this part of Europe. At the top, you will understand why. Our plan is to do circular tour Popadija – Talijanka – Volusnica, round trip with 3 peaks. There are no exposed places, technically it is very easy hike with stunning views from the ridge.
After we finish our hike, late afternoon we will take drive to our next mountain – Komovi. At the way, we will make stop at our favourite restaurant in Plav, at the shore of Plav lake to have dinner. Overnight at Komovi area (alternatively Kolasin or Plav, depends on availability).

When you come to the wide plateau of Štavna, your attention will immediately be drawn to an impressive peak on the left, which is Kom Vasojevićki. The summit of Kom Vasojevićki offers many beautiful panoramas. The way to Kom Vasojevićki begins in Štavna, on the north side below the rock massif. The path continues along the grassy and rocky areas. After about 2.5 hours of ascent, you will stay on the beautiful Vera Pass (2,200 m), which opens the view of the border mountains of Albania, in particular the Prokletije Mountains and its highest peak Maja Jezerce (2,694 m), which dominates in the wider area. From there, the path continues to the summit and soon you will have the honor of enjoying the most impressive and amazing landscape – the view from the summit is simply overwhelming.

After breakfast, we head back to our starting point – Podgorica. We have a 60 km drive and it takes us about 1 hour, it depends on the traffic. We can transfer anywhere in the Podgorica area, transfer to another location in Montenegro is available on request and with an additional charge.
