World class miracle of nature! Tresteni vrh on Maganik mountain, 1980m
This similar but not the same rock formations by information we get and found, can be seen only at 2 places in the World – in Madagascar and Yunnan province in China. It is not commercial place like similar rock formations in Madagascar. Here, this rock formations are unique, because it is mountain peak where is located deepest cave in Montenegro, called Iron deep with 1169 meters of deep and NYX – cave with vertical drop of 429m which put her on 12 place of deepest cave verticals in the world! You will also see the “Katun”, place where shepherds come with their animals to live in summer months because in lower areas there is no food for their animals. That’s part of Montenegrin history and tradition.
So, as you can see by facts, it is definitely most unique and specific location in country of Montenegro worth of visiting.
Start of our tour is in Podgorica and we use old road to Kolasin, through spectacular Moraca river canyon. After almost 40km there is end of asphalt and we sit in 4×4 vehicle or truck (depend of availability) and next 9km to katun is very bad road.
From katun Poljana we have something less of 4km of distance and about 300m of elevation but because of demanding rocky terrain this tour is graded as challenging and require attention in moving. Reward will come at the top of Tresteni vrh which is mountain peak but in form of rocky plateau with dimensions 800×500 meters. It is not possible to pass from end to end and we will stay at the edge. After 1-2h of pause at the top, depending of weather and our preferences we start our way back. At the our start point, depend of availability of hosts we can have lunch made from natural and organic food.
This is full day tour with about 6 hours of walking in both directions.
